About our walks
Every Sunday and on occasional Saturdays DalesBus Ramblers organise free guided walks using the wonderful DalesBus services into the Yorkshire Dales National Park or Nidderdale AONB. The walks vary from easy strolls of around 4 miles to faster-paced strenuous walks of over 10 miles. All you need is a pair of boots, waterproof clothing, water and a packed lunch. You will be led by an experienced guide, and welcomed by a friendly group of walkers of all ages and abilities, on a well-planned walk that often ends at a local hostelry.
Details of which bus to catch and start/finish points are given for each walk. You can also contact the walk leader using the phone number or email address given if you would like more information or advice. For full details of all bus times, connecting services and tickets, see the Metro DalesBus timetable or visit: www.dalesbus.org. For details of our walks, click here.
Using the bus or train
English concessionary bus passes are valid on most bus routes. Dales Freedom Rover tickets are available from the driver at £10 for the day or a Dales Privilege Rover at £8 on production of a railcard of any type (e.g. Senior Railcard, Dales Railcard or Young Persons Railcard) or to ENCTS elderly or disabled pass-holders or students with an NUS or Metro Student Photocard.
Dales Railcards offering 1/3 discount on the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle and Leeds-Lancaster routes plus special offers at certain times of the year are available to purchase for Friends of DalesBus members-please click here for further details.
All walks, times and distances are approximate and are subject to revision as circumstances dictate. Please click here for details of additional walks and any late changes to the walks programme. If using your car, please contact the walk leader in advance and ensure you are parked on the return bus/train route. Whilst every care will be taken, and all walks are risk-assessed, all participants on a DalesBus Ramble are responsible for their own safety. Leaders retain the right to refuse to allow walkers with inadequate clothing or footwear to join walks, and regrettably, dogs other than registered assistance animals are not allowed on our walks.
EASY Suitable for all, a short and generally level stroll
MODERATE A longer walk with occasional uphill sections
STRENUOUS An extended walk with more uphill climbs and over rougher ground
Please accept the pace set by the walk leader. Participants going in front of the walk leader or behind the back marker may be deemed to have left the walk.
